Make no mistake about it, dear readers. This is the hottest woman in town- she is the definition of "hot", man! Stop salivating because she is Tony Parker's girlfriend. Yeah, you are right, the French guy. In case you are one of those who doesn't watch Desperate Housewives. This girl (or woman), Eva Longoria, is what you call a "wardrobe rack". Recently she was accused of insulting a traffic police and used "dirty talk" (the F- you thing).

Early Christmas morning, Eva Longoria and her current boyfriend Tony Parker (he's a point guard for the San Antonio Spurs) were pulled over in Texas. Except they weren't really driving... they were already parked. A bicycle cop saw them and claimed they were getting in the way of traffic, but they didn't move. So he beat the hood of the car a few times until he got Parker's attention. Parker, who was behind the wheel, gave the officer a French driver's license after he tried to drive away and almost hit a pedestrian. The cop wrote a ticket, and he claimed that Longoria yelled at him, "He's just a Mexican bike cop. He only wants your autograph." She has since denied that she said that. Great way to spend Christmas morning.

Mind exercise for you: who is Eva Longoria?

I have been using Gmail for almost a year now. It has been a good experience in general. The storage space grows as each day goes by. I even gave up MSN and started to use Gtalk.
On Christmas Eve, I was trying to send an email with an attachment but failed many times. And my guess is Gmail is under really tough tests around this time of the year. Many Gmail users are sending messages at the same time.... Think about that! So I couldn't really complain about that. The next morning Gmail worked as usual.

Just found a site where I can watch HBO and some Hongkong sports channels. Great picture and sound quality. Cableplus is really good, at least for me.
This movie about faith and law (religious fervor and law). Still watching....
Now it is another movie (korean)

And Julia Roberts

Before I sat at the table to grab something to eat tonight, a good friend of mine called from Australia. He is now working while studying. We talked a lot about the differences between Shanghai and Melbourne. He seems to have this desire to come back to Shanghai to start all over again with his wife. I guess he is missing Shanghai much. And Shanghai, despite its huge population and pollution and high living cost, is still the place he want to be in. He is a Shanghainese after all.
In English we say "Not all that glitters is gold". In our mother tongue we say "As long as it is gold, it will glitter sooner or later". Isn't it interesting? I guess if you have the qualifications and all that, it doesn't matter where you are. You will shine wherever you are. I certainly hope the best things happen to him. I used to have this dream of going to another country and settling down there.... Now Shanghai is the PLACE. It is the most happening city here in China. I love the way it changes every day.

My friend doesn't know my blog and I just want to pray for him.
Yao Ming is ranking NO. 1 in NBA all star balloting. I am happy. Yao haters, go eat pig bums!

New Year's Eve is always a wonderful time to look back to the past and forward to the future. It is a time to reflect on things or changes we want to make or how to make these changes happen. My new year resolutions:
(1) Shed off a few pounds. I got to watch my weight. Eat less red meat. More vegetables. I don't want to see a warning signal on my medical report.
(2) Spend more time with family and friends. I know I can always squeeze some time and spend it with family and friends. No excuses.
(3) Pass the Big Exam in March, 2006. I got to make it, man.
(4) Invest in something (housing mayb- it doesn't look really rosey these days in Shanghai)

(5) Do not get lost.
This was the moment when Jordan almost single-handedly finished the game and he was helped off the court by Pippen, his teammate. I watched that game at a Foreign teacher's apartment. He was nice enough to cancel his classes and let us watch through the Chicago Bulls- Utah Jazz series. Jordan has this flu-like symptom.
He is as good as it gets.
Unstoppable Pippen

An American writes a novel set in 1930s and '40s Kyoto, based on the accounts of a true-life geisha. The geisha later sues the novelist, but the book tops bestseller lists in the U.S. and even makes an appearance on The Sopranos. A bunch of bigwig Hollywood producers get interested and cast three prominent actresses in the movie version of the tale. But the actresses aren't Japanese; they're ethnically Chinese. Given that things are especially touchy between Japan and China right now, that an American man composed this very womanly and quintessentially Japanese tale, and that Hollywood's never been known to stick much to historical or cultural accuracy anyway, this cross-cultural mix quickly ignites scorn from politicians and, naturally, bloggers.
But then, as they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity. In that case, Memoirs of a Geisha, the new film directed by Rob Marshall (of Chicago fame), which stars Ziyi Zhang, Michelle Yeoh, and Gong Li, will be a smashing international hit. From our seat overlooking the Search box, we're already impressed by the buzz. Searches on the film and its lead actresses have soared. Queries for "geisha" and "japanese geisha" have shot off the chart, and "sayuri," the main character and the film's title in its Japanese release, rose dramatically in advance of the movie's Japanese premiere.
Perhaps the Tinseltown treatment of high costs, lavish costumes, and beautiful women will charm audiences in Tokyo and Shanghai as well as Detroit. In the meantime watch for more buzz, more blog posts, and, this being an American venture after all, an extensive line of tie-in face-wash, green tea, and handbags

First you had this wizard boy from Qinghua or Beida (i can't remember) who did this awful thing to a bear by pouring sulfuric acid onto its body. Now you have a more psychotic killer here from Fudan University. How could he do this to a helpless little kitty? He used scissors to cut and poke at the cats' eyes and he took great delight in doing that and he had this audacity to post his experience (torturing the cats) on the Internet. What a DOG!

COMIC STAR ZHAO BENSHAN
You know who this guy is and the country is divided over his acting. Some say his performances are uplifting and reveal some hidden (or real because all of us pretend they don't exist) social problems. Some say he is a vulgar entertainer.
I think he is a nice guy and he knows how to make full use of his sorry appearance and Northeastern dialect to make people laugh. But after all these years I am sort of tired of seeing him on TV all the time. Should he just take a backseat and let someone else run the show. He has always been in the spotlight. Football, TV series and countless appearances on many occasions.... I have no problem with an evening party without Zhao Benshan.
This is a picture showing a team vaccinating birds in a village. You can see the vet didn't wear protective gloves and there is a potential danger of transmitting avian virus to humans.
Nytimes article (Dec. 2) wrote a lot about how China tackled the wide-spread avian virus. My heart goes all out to areas where people have to live or deal with the virus. The rural areas are hit the hardest and I hope this thing can be over soon.
